The Client: Butter End Cakery
The Butter End Cakery is the best high-end bakery in Los Angeles, creating edible masterpieces that range around $20K per cake, no kidding. The owner is charismatic, beautiful and her boutique bakery is on culinary fire. Clients include an impressive who’s who within the entertainment industry. Her work is currently featured in Martha Stewart, Weddings, Brides, Neiman Marcus, Inside Edition, The Golden Globes, Access Hollywood, Huff Post, People, Style Me Pretty, and more.
The Challenge: Make a website as cool as the client
This high-end bakery needed a high-end website that represented her brand. It had to be beautiful, with a sense of humor. It had to attract both men and women. It had to look expensive, but approachable. It had to stand out from the competition. It had to be as impeccable as the rest of the business, and it needed to be user-friendly, super easy to navigate through the THOUSANDS of amazing images of cakes.
Solution: Rank #1 on Google Search
The vision for the home page came to me in a dream. Literally.
I call it “Law & Order Meets Annie Leibovitz”. I saw the owner and team in mouth-watering red-carpet gowns, standing with authority, looking directly into the camera. The piece de resistance was the clearly-used everyday baker’s apron, covered in flour, dressed upon the owner.
The message would be ironic, wry, crisp, direct. As if to say, “Sure, I’m attending an event for the President, but I can still bake the perfect cake for your event during intermission.”
