The Client: Cookie Good
Ross and Melanie Canter, owners of Cookie Good, are the sweetest (pun intended) couple you’ll ever meet. They care uber passionately about providing their customers with that same feeling you had when you were a little kid eating your favorite cookie hot and fresh out of the oven. They had just opened their first official bakery in Santa Monica, California. And now, they were ready to invest in building the perfect website… But, it had to be perfect.
The challenge: create a completely custom buying experience... en masse
We quickly discovered this was no ordinary ecommerce project. Ross wanted the customer to feel as if he or she were peering through the glass display case, hand-picking each and every cookie that would fill his or her fresh bakery box. The “If X, then Y” formula upon which any developer constructs the backend database for a cart quickly exploded to the N’th degree.
We ended many conference calls with a desire to drink scotch heavily…. But, with smiles on our faces, and passion driving us, we knew we would prevail!
The solution: The F & D Test (Fun and Delicious)
We reminded ourselves often, we were dealing with a product that couldn’t be more FUN and DELICIOUS! We simply needed to let F & D lead the way. Any challenge that couldn’t pass the “F & D test” was tossed out.
We knew the key would be making it TOO easy for the buyer, and we started with focusing on making the photography jump off the page. I wanted you to smell the cookies, crave milk and have that warm “Cookie Good” feeling in your heart. Martha Stewart taught me long ago that stunning photography is the foundation of a powerful emotional buying experience… Because it touches us in a very sacred and REAL place that can’t be manipulated.
I’m perhaps more proud of this project than most. It was the most challenging, and therefore tremendously rewarding. I welcome you to check out Cookie Good and build your custom bakery box!
