Challenge:
Universal Studios hired Greta Rose Agency to collaborate with social outreach for best-selling author Mark Manson’s documentary film, “Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.” Mark has sold over 20 million (and counting) copies of his book, and it was a big deal to convert this onto the screen. GRA had a blast finding audiences, getting them excited about the film, and ultimately making Mark (and Universal Studios) proud.
Solution:
Let me just say that getting a guest onto The Tim Ferriss Show isn’t easy. Every project is unique. Every audience is unique. Harnessing the value of WHY a project is worth anyone’s time, energy, money, etc. is like fitting together pieces of an elegant puzzle. When it fits, it fits perfectly. Such was the case when identifying this bro-mance between multi-million best-selling author, Mark Manson, and his mentor and peer, Tim Ferriss (#1 podcast and blogger). GRA negotiated an exclusive conversation, which pleased….well, everybody!
What made this work? Deeply respecting Tim’s process, not being “smarmy,” knowing exactly what to ask for, and knowing our audience.
What We Created: A New “Mark-et”
Translating Mark’s F-Bomb book to the Body-Mind-Spirit world was fun. If you’ve read his book, you know there’s a lot of genius and common sense there (thus why he was able to sell over 20 million copies). Most of our collaboration partners proved to be delighted at taking a deeper look at this film, and ultimately Universal was thrilled with our time together.
