The Client: Butter End Cakery
The Butter End Cakery is the best high-end bakery in Los Angeles, creating edible masterpieces that range around $20K per cake, no kidding. The owner is charismatic, beautiful and her boutique bakery is on culinary fire. Clients include an impressive who’s who within the entertainment industry. Her work is currently featured in Martha Stewart, Weddings, Brides, Neiman Marcus, Inside Edition, The Golden Globes, Access Hollywood, Huff Post, People, Style Me Pretty, and more.
The Challenge: Make a website as cool as the client
This high-end bakery needed a high-end website that represented her brand. It had to be beautiful, with a sense of humor. It had to attract both men and women. It had to look expensive, but approachable. It had to stand out from the competition. It had to be as impeccable as the rest of the business, and it needed to be user-friendly, super easy to navigate through the THOUSANDS of amazing images of cakes.
Solution: Rank #1 on Google Search
The vision for the home page came to me in a dream. Literally.
I call it “Law & Order Meets Annie Leibovitz”. I saw the owner and team in mouth-watering red-carpet gowns, standing with authority, looking directly into the camera. The piece de resistance was the clearly-used everyday baker’s apron, covered in flour, dressed upon the owner.
The message would be ironic, wry, crisp, direct. As if to say, “Sure, I’m attending an event for the President, but I can still bake the perfect cake for your event during intermission.”

I’m a creative-type. And a control freak. I don’t hand over the wheel to many people, but Greta got my attention with her savvy and insight from our very first conversation. I LOVE that our first conversation was about my business ~ strengths, unique traits, competitors, future vision, goals, etc ~ it had nothing to do with web pages and fonts and links. She got me and my company from Go, and I got her. I handed her the wheel and didn’t have a moment of fear or regret. I knew I was in good hands.
The results speak for themselves. Every single person who sees my new site loses their mind. I finally feel like I have a site that matches the quality and creativity of the work that we do. As for professionalism. Greta was on time, kept me on time, and was 110% thorough. She breaks it down and transfers knowledge. She dumbs it down for ‘folks like me’ and isn’t interested in making it seem complicated and proprietary.
We now have the keys to manage our own kingdom. Truth is, I’m just better at making cakes than managing a website. I want my and my small staff’s time spent doing what is going to bring us joy and grown our business, so I’m going to sign on for Greta’s maintenance plan. She can do what she does best, and so can I.Kimberly Bailey, Owner, The Butter End Cakery
